Color Selection

Like most other things, granite countertops that have unique colors tend to be more expensive than those which have common colors. For instance, brown granite with hints of red and black granite with gold or other metallic colors can be very expensive. Neutral colors are more popular so then tend to be priced lower. High quality granite which is beige, light brown or tan color is also a bit expensive.

Slab or Tile

The price you pay for your granite slab of marble countertops also depends on whether it is a slab or a tile. For instance, if you choose tiles over a single slab for your countertop, you can save a lot of money. Large granite slabs which are cut to order can be very expensive. This is because a countertop surface which has fewer seams is more costly to install.

Imperfections

Pieces of granite that are flawless in design are much more expensive in comparison to granite slabs that have slight imperfections in their designs. If imperfections are visible, the granite will be less costly. You would definitely not want to buy granite with large cracks in it, but irregularities in the color or pattern shouldn’t be a problem.

Thickness

The price of granite countertops also depends on its thickness. The thicker you want the countertop, the more you will have to pay. On the other hand, thick countertops that are thick will be less destructible and more durable.
